The Smart Light® is controlled by a microprocessor that contains hundreds of lines of programming, giving The Smart Light® its intelligence. The Smart Light® is designed for 12- volt applications such as lighting RV entryways and camping areas. Its low profile of 2 inches allows it to be mounted on any side of the vehicle. Installation is easy – the hole-pattern is the same as most standard lights. Importantly, The Smart Light® is reverse polarity protected which means that even if you install it wrong, it won't damage The Smart Light®.

The Smart Light® can function as either a normal entryway light, but what makes it better is that its functions expand to include motion detection, battery low detection, and daylight automatic shut off. To enter the motion detection mode, the light switch is turned on, then off then on again within 15 seconds. This action tells the microprocessor to start working. If the light is turned off for more then 15 seconds, it reverts to the normal light function mode.

Features
    12 –Volt operation
Easy to install... uses same hole pattern as most standard lights
Reverse polarity protected – If wired wrong, it will not damage the unit. Simply switch the connecting wires, re-test and the fixture will work properly.
Daylight sensor installed – will not come on in daylight while in motion detection mode
Senses battery function – LED blinks battery condition
The Smart Light® turns off when voltage drops to avoid running down batteries while in motion detection mode

The Smart Light® can be mounted as shown:

Motion Detection
The Motion Detection Alert function, when enabled, will turn the main lighting fixture on any time motion is detected within the sensors range. During daylight hours, Starlights Inc. has made every effort to set the fixtures ambient light sensor to turn the lighting fixture off but in some cases when the fixture is mounted under the canopy or shaded by a tree, the lighting fixture may still trigger and energize the bulb. In these cases the lighting fixture will have to be turned off with the inside switch.
The Motion Detection function can be turned on or off using the light power switch.
Switching the inside switch to the on position will power up the SL1000 in manual mode. The fixture can be switched, while in manual mode, to auto sensing mode by simply switching the inside switch off and then on again. The fixture can be returned again to manual mode by switching the inside switch off and then on again.

INSTALLATION & SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
For The SL-1000 RV Motion Sensor Light
IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
Disconnect battery before installing or replacing the motion sensor lighting fixture.
A person familiar with the installation of 12 Volt lighting products is recommended for the installation of this product.
This motion sensor light is designed to be used only with 12 [volt] DC power [Automotive type], any modifications of the unit may result in a hazard and will VOID the warranty.
The SL-1000 lighting fixture must be installed in accordance with any state and national codes.
Please do not attempt to open the Motion sensor back housing as there are no serviceable parts inside and doing so will VOID the warranty.
Please read all of the SL-1000 installation instructions before installing fixture.
IMPORTANT NOTES
Using or attaching other accessories or devices can cause a hazard, can damage the unit and will VOID the warranty.
INSTALLING THE SL-1000
IMPORTANT—DISCONNECT THE BATTERY
STEP 1:  Remove the old lighting fixture from the RV and clean area of all old sealer, dirt and etc.
STEP 2:  Attach the black wire (+) on the SL-1000 fixture to the black wire (+) coming from the RV.
STEP 3:  Attach the white wire (-) on the SL-1000 fixture to the white wire (-) coming from the RV.
NOTE
The SL-1000 is reverse polarity protected and if wired wrong will not damage the unit. Simply switch the connecting wires and re-test and the fixture should work properly.
STEP 4:  Remove the FIVE (5) screws that attach the lens on the SL-1000 fixture and save them to reattach the lens in STEP (6). Place a bead of silicone sealant on the backside of the fixture being careful not to plug the water drain grove at the bottom of the SL1000 fixture. Use the FOUR (4) screws provided to attach the SL-1000 fixture to the exterior of the RV. In most cases, the previous holes used to mount the old fixture can be reused to mount the SL1000.
STEP 5:  Adjust the dipswitches as directed below for sensitivity. Generally, the factory set sensitivity settings are recommended for best operation. The sensitivity settings can be adjusted from the factory settings by following the instructions below.
IMPORTANT—DISCONNECT THE BATTERY
The dipswitches are located on the circuit board mounted in the electronics compartment of the SL 1000. Once the lens has been removed, access for adjustment is through the opening, with the dipswitches located below the light sensor and above the multicolored LED. Once located, if you look at the switches from bottom to top, they are numbered 1 thru 4 with the ON position on the left. Switches 1&2 control the RIGHT sensor and 3&4 control the LEFT sensor. Taking great care not to touch the circuit board, which would void the warranty, the adjustments are as follows.
STEP 6:  Replace the lens using the FIVE (5) screws removed in STEP (4), being sure that the O-ring that seals the electronics compartment is located properly on the cover and reconnect the battery.
IMPORTANT NOTE
The SL-1000 was designed to operate in two (2) modes;
Mode 1 - Manual Mode
The Manual mode is triggered when switched “ON” by the off-on switch located inside the RV. In the manual mode, the daylight sensor will be inoperable and the SL-1000 will work as a standard lighting product with the exception of Star Monitor®
Starlight's exclusive Star Monitor® will monitor the RV’s Battery Voltage Level. When the voltage drops to a predetermined level a RED led will blink behind the lens as a warning of a low battery condition. Star Monitor® will not turn the SL1000 fixture off in this mode, issues warning only.
Mode 2 - Auto Mode
The Auto mode is triggered by an “ON”-“OFF”-“ON” switching of the off-on switch located inside the RV. If the fixture is already powered up in the manual mode switching OFF then ON will trigger the Auto Mode. In the auto mode, the daylight and motion sensors will be operable and the SL-1000 will work as an automatic motion lighting product with the exception of Star Monitor®.
Starlights exclusive Star Monitor® will monitor the RV’s Battery Voltage Level. When the voltage drops to a predetermined level a RED led will blink behind the lens as a warning of a low battery condition. Star Monitor® will, in the auto mode, turn the SL1000 fixture off. When the battery rises past a predetermined level, switching the off-on switch located inside the RV “OFF”-“ON”-“OFF”-“ON” will reset and continue operation IN THE AUTO SENSING MODE.
The light will only be triggered on when movement is sensed by any one or both of the two (2) sensors. The SL-1000, when operating in the auto mode will not function when one or both of the overriding features below have been activated;
1. Daylight sensor has activated (Blinking Blue Light)
2. When the low voltage sensor has activated. (Blinking Red Light)
IMPORTANT NOTE
The SL1000 performs a simple self test on power-up in manual mode. The unit tests the daylight sensor, the voltage level sensor and the two PIR’s. If a failure is detected a color [BLUE for a daylight failure, RED for a power sense failure and GREEN if either of the PIR’s are not detected] is displayed for one second. A second “white” indicates no failures and the SL1000 will be active by the microprocessor to turn on in either Manual or Auto Sensing Mode.

CAUTION:  This unit should give many years of service but to avoid damaging the SL1000 lens and sensors, it is advised to not spray the SL1000 with a high-pressure hose or pressure washer.
