Capabilities
This car safety system alerts you if there are obstacles in front of or behind your vehicle. It comes with six sensors, two of which are installed on the front of the vehicle. The rear parking sensors will deliver an audible alarm inside the vehicle, but the front sensors can either audibly alert the driver when objects are within 3 feet, or you can mute the audible alert for front sensors and rely exclusively on the LCD.
The premium VFT 2-color LCD, which measures 3.3" by 1.5", shows in feet how close you are to obstacles. It indicates whether the obstacle is in front of or behind the vehicle, and has the alarm speaker with volume control on it.
Power to the rear parking sensors comes from your reversing lights, so the back sensors are activated only when your vehicle is reversing. Front sensors are activated whenever your vehicle is running.
How It Works
When your vehicle is in reverse, the rear sensors are sending out ultrasonic pulses at the rate of 4 times a second and if the monitors to see if any waves that bounce back from any objects. If they detect an obstacle, they send a message to the controller, which transmits a signal to the LCD display and speaker.
The front parking sensors are always on, unless your vehicle is in reverse gear. These are the same kind of sensors as on the rear bumper, and they can help with parking in tight spaces in garages or with parallel parking.
